Report: Baltimore County Police Won’t Sell Guns to Wholesaler
The department plans to sell old weapons to police departments and officers.
Baltimore County police intend to sell 2,000 guns to officers or other departments instead of selling the weapons back to a wholesaler, where they could find their way back on the street, according to the Baltimore Sun.
The newspaper reports the move could cost the county nearly $700,00 as it replaces 15-year-old Sig Sauers with FNS strike-fired pistols.
Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson has been an advocate for stricter gun control measures, and appears in a new radio ad created by Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence praising new laws that go into effect Oct. 1.

Following the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings last December, Johnson and County Executive Kevin Kamenetz called for stricter gun laws.
