Severe Thunderstorm Detected Over Reisterstown: Officials

Western Baltimore County is under a severe thunderstorm warning Wednesday.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m. for parts of Baltimore County.

At 6:20 p.m., radar indicated a severe thunderstorm over Reisterstown that was moving north at 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

These areas may be impacted, according to the warning: Westminster, Eldersburg, Reisterstown, Hampstead, Manchester, Gamber, Finksburg, Carrollton, Upperco, Freeland, Lineboro, Glyndon, Boring, Patapsco, Reese, Millers, Greenmount and Butler.

During the severe thunderstorm warning period, may cause trees and large branches to fall, injuring people outside as well as damaging homes and vehicles. Roads could become blocked by fallen trees, and power outages are possible.

"This storm has gusty winds," Baltimore County authorities said. "Shelter indoors as storm approaches the area. Stay alert for falling tree branches."

People should go inside to the lowest floor and an interior room to stay safe.
