Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For 5 MD Counties

Breaking: The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning, advising people to stay inside.

MARYLAND — Parts of Maryland are under a severe thunderstorm warning Monday night. Baltimore, Harford and Carroll counties are included in the warned area.

The warning remains in effect until 8:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

During the severe thunderstorm warning period, damaging winds could blow down branches, and people should stay inside and away from windows.

Officials said they issued the warning after radar detected severe thunderstorms with 60 mph on a line from Emmitsburg to Braddock Heights, moving east at 55 mph.

These areas may be impacted, officials said: Frederick, Pikesville, Cockeysville, Westminster, Thurmont, Emmitsburg, Harry Grove Stadium, Randallstown, Owings Mills, Eldersburg, Milford Mill, Reisterstown, Lochearn, Ballenger Creek, Mays Chapel, Mount Airy, Robinwood, Taneytown, Hampstead and Walkersville.
