Weekend Fire In Pikesville Caused By Lightning Strike
Firefighters in Pikesville said they helped residents evacuate as they extinguished a small fire found in the attic of a building.
PIKESVILLE, MD—Firefighters said a small fire that started in the attic of an apartment building in Pikesville over the weekend is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike.
According to the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, during a summer storm Saturday around 1 p.m., multiple fire departments were notified of smoke coming from an apartment building at Greene Tree Road and Barbican Way in Pikesville.
When crews arrived on scene, they said they located a small fire in the attic of a three-story building at 33 Barbican Way. Fortunately, they said they were able to extinguish the fire before it had an opportunity to spread.

PVFC crews assisted with throwing ladders, searching the building, helping residents evacuate and ventilating the structure.
