The Point In Towson Launches New Offering To Meet Customer Demand
A year after planning to close, the owners of The Point in Towson say the venue will remain open with a change in how the space operates.

TOWSON, MD — A year after announcing plans to close, the owners of The Point in Towson say the venue will remain open with a change in how the space operates to better serve community needs.
Previously, the plan was to transition the space into an events and pop-up bar only concept, which felt like the most realistic path forward, owner Erica Russo said in a news release. But, the Towson community reached out, asking The Point to stay open because the area had already lost too many independently owned restaurants. Residents wanted to support a local, scratch kitchen restaurant that offered more than just another college bar.
"That response is what made us fight to stay," Russo said.

Over the past year, The Point listened to customers and worked to determine if a sustainable path forward existed.
While the long term vision always included rotating pop-ups and events, operational and staffing challenges initially delayed execution, Russo said. In November, staffing changes were made to align with long-term goals. That allowed The Point to finally launch its first official pop-up experience in December — The Elf Bar, a holiday themed concept that sold out almost every show.

That success gave the team the confidence to fully commit to a larger pivot. Rather than closing the space entirely, The Point chose to divide it.
This week, The Point in Towson, 523 York Road, announced its new brand direction.
The restaurant will continue regular brunch and dinner service in its bar and dining room, offering the scratch kitchen food and hospitality the community asked for. At the same time, a secondary bar
space has been reimagined as a dedicated monthly rotating pop-up bar designed for immersive themed experiences, entertainment, and programming.
“We realized closing the space would take something away from the community, so we chose to divide it instead and give people both great food and something fun to do,” Russo said.
