Woodlawn Explosion: Officer Released From Hospital, Police Say
Seven people were hospitalized following an explosion and fire in Woodlawn Monday, officials said. Two businesses remain closed.

WOODLAWN, MD — All of the first responders injured in the explosion at a Woodlawn nail salon have been released from area hospitals, according to officials.
Four police officers and two emergency medical services personnel were hospitalized following a fire Monday night that prompted an explosion, authorities reported.
By Tuesday, all had been released except one member of law enforcement.

The final police officer who had been hospitalized for observation was released, police reported Wednesday night.
Police said officers were called to the 1700 block of Rolling Road after 9:15 p.m. on Monday for a disturbance, and they found a man who refused to leave a business.

“The individual refused commands by officers and proceeded to run into the back of the store, where he started a fire that produced an explosion," according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Charges will be pending against the suspect, officials said. Authorities did not identify him and said he was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
As of Thursday afternoon, two businesses remained closed in Security Station, a strip mall across the street from Security Square Mall. Libra Nails & Spa and the cleaners next door have been posted as unsafe by Baltimore County.

The Baltimore County Police Department and Baltimore County Fire Department are investigating the blaze along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
