Funeral For James ‘Traffic Jam Jimmy’ Uhrin Draws Crowd In Fullerton

NOTTINGHAM, MD — The funeral for the Perry Hall man known as "Traffic Jam Jimmy" was held Wednesday morning in Fullerton.

James Uhrin died May 7. He was 65.

Uhrin died suddenly at home, according to WBFF, where he worked for more than 40 years. He began his career there in 1974, playing Mondy the Sea Monster on the "Captain Chesapeake" show and most recently guiding drivers along their commutes in his role as Traffic Jam Jimmy. As he drove around to show viewers the on-the-ground conditions, he often took passengers to interview.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said he was "devastated to learn of the passing of local broadcasting legend James Uhrin," whose "trademark humor, irrepressible spirit, and love for Baltimore and our state will be dearly missed."

Uhrin was celebrated with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Church in Fullerton at 8420 Belair Road at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18.

The funeral service was open to the public, and WBFF FOX 45 streamed it live.

Visitation and interment were private. A procession followed the funeral to the cemetery at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, where a private ceremony was planned.
