Ravens Superfan To Be Honored At Purple-Clad Celebration Of Life

A Ravens superfan will be honored with a celebration of life. Here's when Baltimore will remember Captain Dee-Fense.

BALTIMORE — A celebration of life will be held this week for Baltimore Ravens superfan Larry Wes Henson, known as Captain Dee-Fense. Henson, 75, died on Oct. 5.

Public visitations are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at March Funeral Home locations.

The Tuesday visitation will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at March Funeral Home - West in Baltimore at 4300 Wabash Ave.

Visitation resumes Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. at March Life Tribute Center - Randallstown at 5616 Old Court Road in Windsor Mill.

The Randallstown-Windsor Mill location will also hold a Thursday wake, 10 a.m., and funeral, 11 a.m. The funeral will be live streamed at marchfh.com.

Attendees are encouraged to wear purple.

Born Aug. 23, 1950, Henson served in the Navy for 24 years.

Henson had been a Ravens fan since the franchise came to Baltimore in 1996. He could be seen at games, parties and charity events wearing his iconic camouflage pants while sporting chains and spikes around his shoulders. He also donned aviator sunglasses and a Navy captain's hat.

ESPN honored Henson in 2012 as part of its inaugural class of the Hall of Fans.
