About 40—yes 40—acts ranging from quirky comedy to dramatic dancing and a whole lot of guitar jams in between, took the stage. (See photos)
"This event grows every years," Dana Brown, the PHHS Student Council supervisor, said. "It's a huge priority for our administration."
Student Council president Emily Khan said the show literally doubled in size from 20 to 40 acts in just one year.
Juniors Charlotte Li and Tiffany Truong took home first place in the talent competition with their offbeat, ukulele-scored, creatively censored, and beat-box riddled rendition of Micki Minaj's "Super Bass."
"We're still in shock," Li said.
The duo were inspired by musical outfit Karmin and their version (17 million views) of the popular hip-hop song. Karmin, fronted by real life couple Amy Heidemann and Nick Louis Noonan, rose to fame by covering the popular hip-hop song "Look At Me Now." (81 million views)
The duo said they themselves were considering starting a YouTube page to showcase their musical-stylings. Although the self described "very busy people" will have to take it one step at a time.
"It's like I forget that I have five hours worth of homework to do tonight," Truong said, half-jokingly.
Rounding out second and third place were Jean-Luc St. Pierre and Carlos Vides, respectively.
