MARYLAND — Maryland could have a wet Memorial Day weekend. Periodic storms are expected from the Interstate 95 corridor to Ocean City.

Both of Maryland's shores have frequent rain chances until at least Tuesday. The beach should have a few more breaks from the clouds, however. There are also several chances of thunderstorms.

"The thunderstorms can put down heavy rain, which causes difficult travel and even localized flooding, and incidents of hail and strong winds cannot be ruled out," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Renee Duff said in a national forecast outlook. "However, be mindful that thunderstorms can blossom with little to no notice, and as soon as you see dark, billowing clouds or hear a rumble of thunder, seek shelter indoors."

On the Western Shore, highs will be in the low- to mid-80s all weekend. Precipitation could return Saturday and linger with daily rain chances until Wednesday night.

On the Eastern Shore, temperatures will hover in the mid-70s this weekend. Thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon. Showers could return Saturday night. Saturday and Sunday look clear during the day. Thunderstorms are possible Sunday night through Monday night, however.

The stormy weather will tend to travel along a boundary draped along the East Coast," Duff said. "This can result in showers and thunderstorms disrupting outdoor cookouts and memorial services in Boston, Raleigh and even Washington, D.C."

The seven-day forecasts for the Western and Eastern Shores are shown below.
