Perry Hall Educator Wins Celebrate Teachers! Initiative
White Marsh Mall hosted the contest in honor of National Teacher's Day.

Gunpowder Elementary School teacher Amy Blackwell has received a $500 gift card to the White Marsh Mall for winning the Celebrate Teachers contest, in honor of National Teacher's Day.

"Mrs. Blackwell goes above and beyond her call of teaching," Patch reader DLB wrote. "She has been a contributor to helping with technical issues, as well as being [cheerful] with every problems that may arise. Thank you Mrs. Blackwell for helping our children become well educated. You are a true inspiration for future teachers."

Blackwell, who recalls on her teacher bio page that she always wanted to be a teacher, amassed the most votes out of a field of eight other teachers between April 16 and 28.
Blackwell will be honored at a special happy hour ceremony Tuesday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Greene Turtle at the White Marsh Mall.

"All nominated teachers in the Celebrate Teachers sweepstakes are invited, along with their fellow educators," according to a release. "Teachers will enjoy complementary appetizers and happy hour drink prices in a private section of The Greene Turtle, and nominated teachers will receive a White Marsh Mall gift bag including a $20 mall gift card."
