Perry Hall High School Senior Wins National Merit Scholarship
A Perry Hall High School student was named a winner in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship program.

PERRY HALL, MD — A Perry Hall High School senior was among 2,600 named National Merit Scholars in the latest announcement from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
Perry Hall High School senior Tiffany T. Shum, who lives in Glen Arm, received her scholarship from the University of South Florida.

High school seniors were entered into the National Merit Scholarship competition when they took the 2020 PSAT as juniors. Over 16,000 semifinalists were named in the fall based on each state's proportion of graduating seniors in the U.S.
Semifinalists were the highest-scoring students, representing less than 1 percent of high school seniors.

This is the third announcement of National Merit Scholars in 2022. Previously, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation named recipients of corporate-sponsored Scholarships on April 27 and National Merit $2,500 Scholarships on May 11.
Next, it will announce more winners of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards on July 11.
By the conclusion of this year's competition, about 7,500 academic champions will have won National Merit Scholarships worth approximately $28 million.
