Forsyth is an aspiring singer-actress who has performed in all three of Perry Hall High School’s stage shows including the fall play A Shot In The Dark, the spring musical How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and the school’s first dinner theatre production of Our Town.

“Take everything you can get, that’s always been my motto,” Forsyth said.
Forsyth was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall after auditioning in a “Chorus Line-style” dance tryout. She then had to sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

It wasn’t until January that she finally heard back judges, telling her mother Kim Forsyth that she had been selected out of 500 kids between 12 and 16 years old who tried out.

“She wants to be Broadway bound,” Kim Forsyth said.

Marlee spent the weekend in workshops with Broadway royalty, performing alongside the likes of Ellen Harvey, who is currently starring in Phantom of the Opera.

The whirlwind weekend ended with the student-ensemble paired alongside Broadway pros performing musical numbers honoring the works of songwriters Frank Loesser, Jule Styne and Danny Kaye.

Marlee and her family left New York City last night, arriving directly at school Tuesday morning—only a few minutes late.

“It was different,” Marlee said of her surreal experience. “It was like returning to real life after being in a Cinderella story weekend."
