A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. Our children should never have to be concerned for their safety, especially when they are at school. I am confident that Baltimore County police will quickly restore safety and order at the school so that the students and administrators can focus on learning. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. I have been following reports from credible news sources. I have also seen a lot of posts on social media that cannot be accurate because they directly contradict other information. For the sake of everyone affected, I ask everyone to please refrain from speculating about this tragedy. It is always difficult to process something like this happening so close to home. We cannot change what happened today, but we can talk to our kids about how to handle threats of violence and give them a big hug when they get home from school today and every day. ———
