1 Dead, 1 Injured In Multiple-Car Crash In Baltimore County

Maryland State Police said the crash occurred Saturday morning on the inner loop of Interstate 695.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — One person died and another was injured Saturday morning in a multiple-car crash in Baltimore County, according to state police.

Shortly after 8 a.m., troopers responded to the crash on the inner loop of Interstate 695 at Perring Parkway in Baltimore County.

According to preliminary investigation, a Nissan Sentra was traveling in the area when, for unknown reasons, it struck the corner of a Toyota C-HR, resulting in subsequent crashes with a Nissan Altima and a Toyota RAV4.

The driver of the Sentra — identified as James Beckham, 31, of Essex — was taken to an area hospital where he later died, state police said.

A 26-year-old man from Nottingham, the driver and sole occupant of the Altima, was also taken by ambulance to an area hospital for the treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the Honda, as well as the driver and one passenger in a Toyota RAV4, were uninjured in the crash.

Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration were on scene to assist with road closures and detours while authorities closed the road. All lanes on the inner loop of I-695 reopened at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
