MARYLAND — A mix of snow and freezing rain on Tuesday morning has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for Maryland. Little snow accumulation is expected on Christmas Eve.
"Light freezing rain accumulations are expected with temps in the 20s, which will lead to treacherous travel conditions during the Tuesday morning commute," the NWS office for Baltimore-Washington, D.C. said.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the District of Columbia, plus Carroll, Baltimore, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Howard and Harford counties. The advisory is in effect from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Total ice accumulation of a light glaze to a few hundredths of an inch is expected. A dusting to one-tenth of an inch of snow is possible in parts of DC, Maryland, and northern Virginia.
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, the weather service said Monday. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.
