White Marsh Carjacking: Man Asked For Ride First, Police Said

Police said a man has been charged in a carjacking in White Marsh that happened over the weekend.

WHITE MARSH, MD — A Dundalk man is behind bars in connection with a carjacking in White Marsh that happened Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Charles Hoffman, 35, of the 800 block of Jeanette Avenue, is charged with carjacking; robbery; theft from $25,000 to $100,000; second-degree assault; unlawful taking of a motor vehicle; and theft less than $100, court records show.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, police said Hoffman approached someone in the 5300 block of Nottingridge Road and asked for a ride. When the person he asked refused to give him a ride, officials said he assaulted the victim and stole the vehicle.

The Baltimore County Carjacking Team and Regional Auto Theft Taskforce handled the arrest and filed charges against Hoffman, police said.

At a bail review hearing Tuesday afternoon in Baltimore County District Court, a judge ordered that Hoffman be denied bail.
