Construction Worker Identified Who Died In School Accident

A construction worker died while a portable building at a school in Potomac Thursday, authorities said. His name has been released.

POTOMAC, MD — Authorities have released the name of a construction worker who was killed Thursday in an accident at a prep school in Potomac. Montgomery County Police say the victim was John Moran Jr., 27.

The accident occurred at 8:43 a.m. at the Heights School, 11400 Seven Locks Road, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Daniel Ogren said.

Investigators say that construction crews were working outside of the school to move a portable building. While moving, the building struck Moran and he died at the scene, Montgomery Community Media reports.

The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Department was notified and is assisting in the ongoing investigation.
