Clinton Firetruck Involved in Crash While en Route to Car Collision

As units were responding to an incident, a firetruck was involved in a crash of its own, according to the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department.

Officials were called to a crash with injuries around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. A vehicle hit a building at 6422 Old Branch Avenue, PGFD reports. As an engine from Clinton Fire/EMS Station 825 was traveling to the location with siren and emergency warning lights on, it was involved in a collision. The truck was approaching the intersection of Old Branch Avenue and Kirby Road in Clinton when a vehicle suddenly changed lanes and into the path of the engine which caused the crash.

No firefighters were injured, however, the female driver was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

There is an estimated $10,000 worth of damage to the vehicle and an estimated $20,000 to the firetruck, according to the PGFD. Most of the damage to the engine is to the waterway where it gets water from a fire hydrant.

Alternative units responded to the reported car crash. There were no injuries or damage to the building.
