Why Go: Sample some great chili from the Maryland/Virginia Chili Appreciation Society’s premier cooks, as well as local competitors and vote for your favorite. Chili tasting begins at noon, judging at 3 p.m., and raffle to benefit the Beltsville Rotary Club at 4 p.m.

Why Go: University Park residents will celebrate 75 years as an incorporated town. With an inside-out parade, dedication of the Christmas Tree Triangle as Henson green, a living history, re-enactments and more — it's fun for the whole family. It's also a great way to meet other University Park neighbors.

Why Go: Curious about lacrosse, but never tried it? This is the perfect opportunity for kids to start playing lacrosse as a local group is hoping to help this sport grow in the county. With UMd. lacrosse players, the kids will have fun and learn the basic skills of the game. Wear sneakers, bring a water bottle, and lacrosse gear if you have it.
