How and When to Toss Your Christmas Tree
Curbside pickup is available in Riverdale Park, University Park, and county-serviced areas.

The twelfth day of Christmas isn't until Thursday, but if you're growing weary of vacuuming up pine needles every day, here's the scoop on how to dispose of your tree.

Yard waste—including Christmas trees—will be collected in University Park on Wednesday, Jan. 4 and Wednesday, Jan 18. There will be no collection on Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Residents are asked to remove all tinsel and other decorations from trees before placing them curbside.
County-serviced areas
Households with county-run trash pickup should place their trees curbside—sans decorations—before 6:30 a.m. on their regularly scheduled collection day.
Each tree will be shredded and cured into mulch for the county's annual spring Mulch Giveaway event. Last year, more than 26 tons of tannenbaums were collected.
Drop-off locations
Prince George's County residents may drop off their trees—also sans decorations—at one of two places:
- Prince George’s County Yard Waste Composting Facility, 6601 Southeast Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday)
- Brown Station Road Public Convenience Center, 3501 Brown Station Road, Upper Marlboro (7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, through Jan. 31)
