Riverdale Man Accused of Hiding Machete Under Jacket

A Riverdale man was arrested in Takoma Park Saturday after allegedly hiding a machete under his jacket.

Jose L. Flores, 31, was charged with concealing a deadly weapon in the incident.

According to Takoma Park Police Chief Ronald A. Ricucci, officers responded to the 900 block of University Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. on a report of a male subject wielding a machete.

When they arrived, police intercepted Flores and conducted a patdown, allegedly finding the weapon on his person.

Flores was taken into custody "after a struggle and resisting arrest," Ricucci said in a statement. He was later transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
