Parents learned what programs were offered at different PGCPS schools and met principals, staff.

Update, Oct. 25: Students from William Wirt Middle showcased what they had learned in school Monday night at the Showcase of Schools, while parents met principals and staff from 17 schools in District 2, which covers College Park and Riverdale.

Original Post, Oct. 24: Prince George's County Public Schools offer a variety of programs for students entering elementary, middle and high schools, however area parents aren't always aware of these programs.

That's why the district has been holding a series— — and the final one is tonight at .

School Board Member Peggy Higgins said parents of students or perspective students can learn what it's like to be a parent in several Prince George's County Public Schools. Monday night's showcase will focus on schools in District 2.

"Come and meet people," Higgins said. "It’s really to get the opportunity to get to find out what’s happening in our schools."

Parents will be able to meet the principal, staff and students at various schools in District 2.

Higgins said it's a way to show people the school system's improvements and how the programs can tap into their child’s potential.

The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. at off Tuckerman Street in Riverdale.
