13-Year-Old Charged In Rockville Commercial Burglaries

A 13-year-old was charged with two commercial burglaries in Rockville, while two boys, ages 11 and 12, have been released, police said.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A 13-year-old boy has been charged with two commercial burglaries in Rockville, while two suspected accomplices, boys ages 11 and 12, have been released to their guardians, Montgomery County police said.

About 1 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a burglary report at Superior Auto Service in the 12200 block of Wilkins Avenue. Police said the three juveniles forced their way into the business, stole property and left.

While officers were at the auto business, a report came in for a second commercial burglary at RMA Transportation in the 12200 block of Wilkins Avenue.

A police report said the three boys entered RMA Transportation, a car and chauffeur service. While the business was closed, employees were still in the building and confronted the juveniles, who ran away.

The three suspects were found nearby with stolen property from the business in their possession, a police report said. The 11 and 12-year-old boys were released to their guardians.

Police said the 13-year-old was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and conspiracy, and then released to a guardian. Under Maryland law, children younger than 13 cannot be charged with crimes other than violent offenses.
