ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County police say they have arrested two men they say stole a teenager's car at gunpoint in Rockville last month.

Juan Angel Madrid, 25, of Rockville, and Michael Castillo Guzman, 26, an inmate at a Worcester County facility, face a slew of charges — including armed carjacking — stemming from an incident that took place the night of Sept. 16.

Police say the pair approached the 19-year-old male victim in the parking lot of an apartment building on Veirs Mill Rd. Guzman attempted to search the victim's pants pocket and then pointed a handgun at his head, the department said.

The teen ran away, and Guzman and Madrid fled the scene in his vehicle, which was already running, according to authorities.

Around 8:44 p.m., about 10 minutes after the alleged carjacking, officers spotted the vehicle in the area of Route 355 and Park Road and tried to pull the suspects over.

Madrid and Guzman then abandoned the car at the intersection of North Van Buren Street and West Middle Lane, according to police. A third suspect did not run and was arrested. Officers later determined that the suspect was not involved in the carjacking and was released from custody without charges.

A citizen's tip led to the identification of Madrid and Guzman, according to police. Madrid was arrested on Sept. 25, and is currently being held without bond. Guzman is being held at a correctional facility in Snow Hill on charges unrelated to this investigation.
