4th Of July Forecast: Here's What To Expect In Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The week surrounding the 4th of July is going to be positively steamy in Montgomery County, so if you plan on being out and about, take steps to stay cool and hydrated.

Fortunately, the worst of it will be earlier in the week, with Monday seeing a heat index in the mid-100s, according to the National Weather Service.

But the whole week is definitely going to remind you that summer has fully arrived. The heat wave will climax on Monday, and will slowly taper off as the week progresses. It won't get much cooler until the weekend.

Dew points hovering in the positively muggy 70-74 range are a big reason for the high heat index. And there won't be much in the way of breezes to bring relief, the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang says.

Tuesday won't be quite as bad, but it will still be hot and muggy, with the heat index reaching to around 100 in the afternoon.

And that brings us to Wednesday, July 4th. Expect highs above 90 degrees and still muggy conditions. There is a chance for a late-day storm, so keep an eye on that if you're planning on going out to watch fireworks.

Thursday should include more of the same, and then Friday brings the end of the heat wave and a good chance for some strong storms in the late afternoon to the evening, CWG predicts.

The weekend will feel dramatically different, with forecasts expecting highs to dive into the low to mid 80s, and humidity levels much lower as well. Sunday should be even better than Saturday.
