Council Talk, a Goat on a Walk and an O's Fan Sulks
It's the 'Here Comes the Sun?' edition of 'The Rundown.'
Good Friday, Rockville!
Things are lookin’ up. There’s still a chance of showers over the next few days, but the forecast calls for them to be fewer and farther between.
As the days warm up and the end of the school year draws nearer things just get busier. As someone once said, “we’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.”

(Yes, I realize that’s the second appearance of Sally Field in “The Rundown.” No, I can’t explain it.)
Here’s the “Have you ever seen the rain?” edition of “The Rundown”:

- In case you missed it last week, the City of Rockville has posted video of the pilot episodes from “111 Maryland Ave.,” the new roundtable talk show with the City Council.
Catch Susan Kennedy’s sit-down with councilmembers Bridget Donnell Newton and Piotr Gajewski here and with John Britton and Mark Pierzchala here or check the Rockville 11 programming schedule to see when to catch it on your TV. - In case those “pop-up” showers happen to pop up, there are some great indoor options this weekend at
On Saturday and Sunday, Rockville Little Theatre performs Tom Stoppard’s “Rough Crossing.” Tickets are $14 for students and seniors, $16 for adults.
On Sunday, the Rockville Chorus will perform its “Swingin’ into Spring” concert at 7:30 p.m. Our friends at Rockville Central have more details. The concert is free, but donations are gladly accepted. - Did you catch the bagpipers at ? Are you a county resident in fifth through 11th grade? Want to give it a try? The Rockville High School Pipe Band is looking for “a few good students”—to borrow a phrase used in our comments section. The bonus: The band is offering free lessons in piping, bass drum, tenor drum, snare drum and drum majoring. For more information, email band director Lisa Frazier at rhspb@yahoo.com.
- Get that goat! If you missed it yesterday (as county police did—that kid is fast!) our neighbors to the north, Gaithersburg Patch, had some causing havoc in the streets of Gaithersburg (and some great comments from readers). That video of the goat last night on NBC4 news at 11? Shot by Patch’s own Sebastian Montes (though you wouldn't have known it from the tiny credit line in the corner of the screen—what gives, Jim and Doreen?!).
- A cobra that escaped from the Bronx Zoo in March quickly took to Twitter. (Insert joke about Yankee Stadium, the Bronx and snakes here—anything to soothe that 13-2 bruise.) I can only hope that the Gaithersburg goat will do the same. We’d be sure to follow him.
