Deadline To Request Mail-In Ballot In Montgomery Co. Is Oct. 20

ROCKVILLE, MD — The deadline to request a mail-in ballot in Maryland for the 2020 presidential election is Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Any registered voter can vote by mail-in ballot. Here's everything you need to know if you haven't yet requested one:

Requesting a mail-in ballot

There are three ways you can request a mail-in ballot:

• Online (with your Maryland's driver's license or MVA-issued ID card)
• Fill out and return one of the forms below
  • Mail-in ballot application for 2020 elections (PDF)
  • Solicitud de Papeleta de Votante Ausente para las Elecciones del 2020 (PDF)
    • You can return the form by fax or email (scanned as attachment)
      • Note: Election officials recommend that you download and complete the form in Adobe Acrobat or another PDF reader. To download the form, click the form link and then right-click on the form. Select "Save as" to save it to your computer. You can also print the form and write in your information.
• Go to the Montgomery County elections board and fill out the form

Receiving your mail-in ballot

When you request a mail-in ballot, you choose how you want to receive it.

Election officials can mail or fax your ballot to you, or you can download your ballot from the state's website. If you want to download your ballot, don't forget to list your email address.

Designating another person to pick up your mail-in ballot

Yes, someone else can do it for you. That person will be responsible for returning your completed mail-in ballot application to the Montgomery County Board of Elections, picking up your ballot, and delivering it to you.

For this to happen, you and your agent (the person picking up your ballot) will need to complete the Mail-in Ballot: Designation of Agent Form (Papeleta de Votante Ausente: Formulario para Designar un Representante). The form can also be obtained from the county's elections board.

Dropping off your mail-in ballot

Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 3). Mailed ballots must be received by the local board of elections by 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13.

You can also drop off you mail-in ballot at any of the 284 ballot drop boxes, which are open 24/7 around the state, until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
