Family Of 5 Displaced After House Fire In Montgomery County
When crews arrived, they found heavy flames and smoke coming from the house's rear deck.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A family of five was displaced following a house fire in Rockville on Tuesday night, according to authorities.
Montgomery County fire crews responded to a house fire at 11800 Rocking Horse Road around 8 p.m., spokesperson Pete Piringer said in a release. When crews arrived, they found heavy flames and smoke coming from the house's rear deck and inside the building.
Piringer said 75 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was extinguished around 9:30 p.m.

According to Piringer, fire crews encountered multiple hazards attempting to douse the fire, including solar panels on the home's roof and yard, batteries, loose wiring and hoarding conditions.
Officials said the blaze was sparked by a portable generator and caused more than $100,000 in damage. The flames also melted the siding of a neighboring home, Piringer said.

The fire displaced two adults and three children living in the home.
