• Officials impose new restriction that will change grocery shopping: 'Businesses will be prohibited' (thecooldown.com) — Starting January 1, 2026, Rockville shoppers will see most local stores stop offering plastic carryout bags and begin charging 10 cents for each paper bag, with exemptions for prescriptions, dry cleaning, and some perishables. Half of the fee will support store costs and half will fund water quality programs, while SNAP and other food-assistance users are exempt and restaurant takeout bags remain free.
   

• Sara Young Breaks Katie Ledecky's 11-12 Age Group Record in the 200 Free (swimswam.com) — A standout Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club performance just rewrote the record books at the Riley Eaton Invitational in Boyds, where 11-12 standout Sara Young broke Katie Ledecky’s old 200-yard freestyle mark and set multiple Potomac Valley records. RMSC boys’ relay teams also notched new records, underscoring Rockville’s growing reputation as a regional swimming powerhouse.
