Free Dog Adoption Weekend Underway At Montgomery Co. Animal Shelter

DERWOOD, MD — The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center is holding a free "Find Your Lucky Pup” adoption event for all dogs from Friday, March 14, to Monday, March 17.

All fees will be waived for pets those days in an effort to clear the shelter, which is full of dogs looking for good homes and adopters are urgently needed, organizers said in a news release.

The adoption process is simple and free, the county said. Visit the MCASAC website for details on the adoption process.

The Animal Services and Adoption Center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood.

The center is open seven days a week. Shelter hours of operation are:

• Monday: noon-7 p.m.
• Tuesday: noon-7 p.m.
• Wednesday: noon-5 p.m.
• Thursday: noon-7 p.m.
• Friday: noon-7 p.m.
• Saturday: noon-5 p.m.
• Sunday: noon-5 p.m.

Residents can view adoptable animals here or visit the facility during open hours. Adoptions are first-come, first-served and processed the same day. Residents should be ready to take their new pet home by bringing a leash and collar.
