Gaithersburg Woman Dies In Three-Vehicle Crash In Rockville: PD

A 74-year-old woman is dead after a man ran a red light and collided with the car she was in, according to Montgomery County police.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Montgomery County woman is dead following a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Rockville.

Amanda Motta, 74, of Gaithersburg, was a rear seat passenger of a 2015 Toyota RAV4, according to Montgomery County police. She died at a local hospital shortly after the crash — which police say took place around 9:11 a.m. at West Montgomery Avenue and the ramp for Interstate 270.

The Toyota RAV4 was making a left turn from the I-270 exit ramp on to eastbound West Montgomery Avenue when a car traveling west on West Montgomery Avenue hit it, police said.

Officials believe that the car — a 2017 Cadillac CT6 — may have ran a red light.

After getting struck by the Cadillac CT6, the Toyota RAV4 then collided with a 2019 Toyota Highlander. Police say the Toyota Highlander was waiting at a red light in the eastbound lane of West Montgomery Avenue.

The drivers of the Cadillac and Toyota RAV4 were seriously injured in the crash, according to police.
