Looking to make your space as festive as possible? Here are tips and tricks to make your space feel warm and festive during the holiday season.
- Decorate with smaller items such as a smaller Christmas tree or Menorah. These items are the star of the show and don’t have to be eight, or even three, feet tall to be considered a real Christmas tree or Menorah. The best thing about getting a miniature Christmas tree (real or fake) or Menorah is that you can have more than one placed around to make your space even more festive!
- Let there be light! Wrap string lights outside on your balcony, porch, trees or bushes. String lights take up no floor space and brighten up people’s day when they see them. You could even explore hanging lights inside, along the ceiling or along your countertops. Warm-toned white lights or colors that correspond with the holiday work well to keep the space warm and festive.
- Set the mood and light holiday scented candles. Candles also take up very little space and add to the holiday ambiance. Pick your favorite scent and add candles to a centerpiece with pinecones, ornaments, a wreath or your Menorah as your candle holder. You can also add them on your windowsill or on the fireplace.
- Use holiday themed colors. Keep the holiday theme consistent throughout the house by using the holiday colors and color coordinate the tablecloth, pillows, blankets, ribbons, bowls and plates, etc.
- Only have a few places to sit? Structure the room with food and drinks served in a buffet style to open up the floor and make it easier for people to mingle. Food placed in different areas will spread your guests out and not gather in one area. Focus on offering small dish/appetizer foods that people can share and eat while standing up. Food ideas include latkes, Challah bread, jelly donuts, charcuterie board, meatballs, bruschetta, dips, etc.
- Maximize the use of your walls. In small spaces where you may lack width, your walls are valuable spaces. Deck the halls and walls with wreaths, stockings, snowflakes garlands and more!
No matter how many decorations you decide to put up, there is no amount that can bring more joy than the laughter of friends and family. Most of all, their company makes any home feel warm and festive.
