Man Arrested At Rockville Hotel For Impersonating An Officer: Police

ROCKVILLE, MD — A man was arrested and charged with impersonating a police officer at the Rockville Hotel on 3 Research Court, Montgomery County Police said.

Detectives from the Vice and Intelligence Unit saw a black Chevrolet Tahoe, which appeared to be an unmarked police car, and asked hotel employees who it belonged to on May 10, according to a police news release.

Staff told the detectives that a man showed them what they thought was law enforcement identification and said that his government-issued vehicle needed to be parked in front of the hotel, the news release says.

The detectives found that the car was registered to Joshua Taber, a 38-year-old from Virginia who is not an "agent."

Authorities say that detectives found multiple ID cards with the title “Special Agent" and multiple firearms in Taber's hotel room. They found multiple firearms, including a ghost gun, along with various pieces of police paraphernalia, a ballistic vest, multiple holsters, magazines and ammunition in his car, police said. They searched after obtaining a warrant for the room and the car, the news release says.

Taber was charged with impersonating a police officer and multiple firearms related charges, according to the news release.
