MD Memorial Day Weekend Events: Parades, Celebrations, Ceremonies

MARYLAND — Events to observe Memorial Day are scheduled for this weekend across Maryland communities, from parades to flag ceremonies to live music.

No matter where you are, you can participate in the National Moment Of Remembrance. Every year, a national moment of remembrance is held at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day. The midday time was chosen "because it is the time when many Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday," according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Montgomery County

Rockville Memorial Day Ceremony And Parade
Rockville Town Center, May 30, 2022 - A musical tribute from the Rockville Concert Band and Chorus will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. and the beginning of the parade at 10: 30 a.m.

Gaithersburg Memorial Day Observance
Christman Park, May 30, 2022, 11 a.m. - A former Major General from the United States Army will speak at the ceremony, which will include wreath-laying, the Cadet Color Guard of Gaithersburg High School, and the national anthem, and a local high school student playing "Taps."

Flags For Our Heroes
Bohrer Park, Opening Ceremony - May 28 at 11 a.m., Closing Ceremony - May 30 at 4 p.m. - Residents can sponsor a flag displayed at Bohrer Park to honor someone who has inspired them. Sponsor a flag through the Rotary Club's website.

Anne Arundel County

Memorial Day Meetup
Linthicum Veterans Memorial, May 20 at 9 a.m. - There will be a 5k fun run along with a circle of remembrance.

Placing Flags
May 28 at 8 a.m. - American Legion Cummings-Behlke Post 226 and volunteers will lay flags at nearly 30 cemeteries, the group said.

Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Carnival
May 24 to May 3o at 1425 Annapolis Road - There will be food and games at the carnival and a short ceremony for Memorial Day.

Live Music
May 20 at 2 p.m., Pasadena - The Big Money Band will perform at Mike's Crab House North with roadhouse dance tunes from the 60s and 70s.

Cookout
Pasadena - The Rock Hill Beach Community Association will host a cookout open to residents of its community. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. at 1209 Valley Road.

Annapolis 2022 Memorial Day Parade
May 30 at 10 a.m. - Watch this free parade and see musical groups, color guards, floats, marching units and emergency vehicles in downtown Annapolis.

Prince George's County

Bowie Memorial Day Parade
May 28 at 9 a.m. - Marching bands, performing groups, floats, and local clubs will be featured in this Memorial Day parade.

Brentwood Memorial Day Event
May 30 at 11 a.m. at the Bartlett Park Gazebo - There will be a light lunch and the rededication of the flower garden.

Baltimore County

Memorial Day Ceremony
May 3o at 10 a.m. at the Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens - The ceremony will include wreath placement, tributes to those lost, TAPS, and a 21-gun salute.
