MoCo COVID-19 Update: Percent Of Population Tested, Deaths & More
Montgomery County adds 66 coronavirus cases and three deaths as it enters Phase 2 of its reopening plan.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County's coronavirus case count nears 14,000 as the locality enters the second stage of its reopening plan.
The county — which will enter phase two on Friday at 5 p.m. — recorded 66 new cases overnight, bringing its total to 13,928. The death toll climbed by three, and now stands at 670.
Health officials believe another 40 people may have died from COVID-19 without ever being tested. "Probable deaths," as they're called, aren't included in the official fatality count until they are confirmed by a laboratory test.

The county continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 17,709, according to the latest figures.
Across Maryland, COVID-19 has infected at least 63,548 people and killed 2,901. Another 129, health officials believe, may have had the disease but died without ever being tested.

There are now 648 coronavirus patients in hospitals statewide. Of that, 261 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
