MOCO Parking Rates Changing In The New Year
New rates will start to go into effect on Jan. 3 for Montgomery County garages, parking lots and street meters.

BETHESDA, MD — Drivers who typically park at Montgomery County-owned garages, parking lots or street meters should expect some price changes in the new year.
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation announced varying changes for the Bethesda, Wheaton and Silver Spring parking areas. See all of the changes, and the old rates, here.
"Parking revenues go directly to the management, maintenance and improvements of parking programs and services," the county said in a news release. "A portion also goes to supplement other County programs such as the Urban Districts, which support streetscape improvements, lighting maintenance and clean-and-safe crews throughout downtown areas."

Off-street parking facilities have a lower cost than on-street parking, since the county says lower amounts of street parking helps with traffic management and public safety, and increases the number of convenient spaces for public use.
Signs will be posted at each parking location ahead of the changes.
