Montgomery College Scholarships Available For MOCO Public School Grads

Up to 3,000 eligible Montgomery College students who graduated from a MOCO high school in 2022 will be considered for a $500 scholarship.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Montgomery College is launching a new scholarship program that could provide up to 3,000 students with a $500 scholarship.

The "Raptor Ready" program is for students who meet the following criteria:

  • graduated from a Montgomery County public high school in 2022
  • Admitted to Montgomery College prior to applying for the Raptor Ready Scholarship
  • Register for, and attend, at least six credit hours in Fall 2022
  • Complete the Raptor Ready Scholarship application by Aug. 1 as one of the first 3,000 applicants

“The new Raptor Ready Scholarship is designed to launch the educational path for thousands of students,” said Dr. Jermaine F. Williams, president of Montgomery College. “If you’re a spring 2022 high school grad, have been admitted to MC, and a county resident – you are Raptor Ready.”

The scholarship can only be applied to fall 2022 tuition and fees, the college said. Any applicants who are not one of the first 3,000 will be placed on a waitlist.

Williams, who announced the scholarship, joined Montgomery College as its new president in the beginning of 2022. Williams was previously the president at Nassau Community College on Long Island.

"Montgomery College has long been a leader among community colleges nationally and I am excited to be joining the ranks at this time of change and great urgency," said Williams in the release when he was announced as the new president.
