Montgomery County Mother's Day Forecast: Here's What To Expect

The heat comes roaring in this weekend, but Mother's Day will have some quirks.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — If you've got Mother's Day plans that involve some outdoors activity this Sunday in Montgomery County, pay close attention to this forecast, because things are really up in the air right now (literally).

While the forecast looks solid for Friday -- mostly sunny and pleasant -- and Saturday -- positively steamy with highs in the low 90s -- forecasters are unsure what to make of Sunday.

A cold front is expected to make its way into our area sometime Sunday morning, but what that means for us exactly is unclear. It could mean clouds and rain, but not necessarily. Fortunately, if it does rain, the heaviest stuff is likely to stay to our north. And temperatures will at least be mild and enjoyable.

So it's probably a safe bet to carry and umbrella with you throughout the afternoon, as scattered showers seem like a good possibility.

Into Sunday evening, the clouds will remain and we could get more showers, but by then the front will be moving out, says the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang. And it will get pretty cool, with lows dropping into the 50s.

Saturday will be the truly unpleasant day, with heat soaring into the low 90s and rising humidity levels. It will certainly give you a little taste of the brutal summer we are likely to get.

So what does early next week look like? Unfortunately, the muggy air will remain, so although temperatures will be in the 80s, it's going to feel hotter than that. We also may get some thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday.
