New Coronavirus Cases In Montgomery Co. Drop To 0.5% In One Day

ROCKVILLE, MD — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Montgomery County increased by 0.5 percent, or by 72 cases, since Thursday, bringing its total to 13,348.

To date, the Maryland Health Department is reporting 640 deaths in Montgomery County. Another 39, health officials believe, likely died from COVID-19 without ever being tested.

The county, which is home to roughly 1.1 million residents, continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 17,042, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, health officials are reporting 60,613 confirmed cases and 2,773 deaths. An additional 127 people probably had COVID-19, but died without getting tested, officials said.

There are 836 coronavirus patients currently hospitalized in Maryland. Of that, 331 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
