Maryland Avenue will be closed for the next six nights as crews continue to repair a sewer blockage, according to a news release from Rockville City Police on the city’s Alert Rockville system

Maryland Avenue will close for night work between Fleet Street and East Jefferson Street from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday through Wednesday. Eastbound lanes on East Jefferson Street also will close during those hours.

The left turn lane from Maryland Avenue to westbound East Jefferson Street will be closed at all times until Wednesday.

One lane of Maryland Avenue in each direction and all lanes on eastbound East Jefferson Street will reopen during non-construction work hours each day.

Motorists are advised to use North Washington Street, East Middle Lane, Monroe Street and Fleet Street as alternative routes during the road work.
