Hometown Holidays Festival Leads Rockville Memorial Day Weekend Celebrations
It's a Rockville tradition — Memorial Day is celebrated with a ceremony and parade, along with the two-day Hometown Holidays festival.
ROCKVILLE, MD — It's a Rockville tradition — Memorial Day is celebrated with a ceremony and parade, along with the Hometown Holidays festival, which runs for two days.
The parade and ceremony will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, May 26. at the Rockville Town Center Park, 131 Gibbs St.
Founded in 1944 by William (Bill) Wood, Memorial Day starts with a ceremony remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms and concludes with the parade.

Featured in the parade are more than 50 units, including military and community groups, marching units, dance troupes, and more.

There is no cost to attend.
Hometown Holidays Runs May 24, 25
The festival will run from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 at Rockville Town Center.
Hometown Holidays has two stages of entertainment for all ages and music, including rock, pop, country, bluegrass, blues and more. Check rockvillemd.gov/HTH for the full performance lineup.
Food and beverages will be sold by local restaurants and vendors, including local flavor from around the world with a preview of this summer’s Explore Rockville Global Bites campaign.
A new shopping area will feature local artisans.
Marsha and the Positrons and Ms. Niki’s Music Class headline the children’s entertainment lineup, according to Montgomery Community Media. Families can also participate in crafts, a giant Connect 4 game, and other kid-friendly activities.
Organizers urge residents to bring beach chairs or blankets for seating, but not within 100 feet of the stages. Visitors may bring outside food.

Transportation Options
- By Metro: Take the Red Line to Rockville Station. Exit on Rockville Pike and follow the music to Middle Lane.
- By Car: Free parking is at the Metro and City Hall lots. The jury lot opens after 2 p.m. Saturday. Paid parking is $10 in Garages A, B and C.
- By Bus: Ride On routes 45, 55 and 301 stop nearby.
- By Bike: Bike racks are on Maryland Avenue near Beall Avenue.
Outreach booths will connect attendees with festival sponsors, community groups and city services.
