Mayor, Council Election 2023: Unofficial Results In Rockville City
Rockville voters elected a new mayor and six city council members Tuesday. Patch has all of the latest results.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Voters elected Monnique Ashton as Rockville City's new mayor on Tuesday, according to the unofficial results. She defeated opponent Mark Pierzchala.
Rockville City voters cast ballots for a new mayor and city council. They also voted on an advisory referendum to allow 16 and 17-year-olds and non-citizens to vote in city elections; enact three-year term limits for the Rockville mayor and city council; and establish representative districts from which council members would be elected.
Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton did not seek another term.

Rockville residents also voted on a nonbinding advisory referendum, providing the voters' preference on the following issues:
Allowing voters aged 16-17 to vote:

Allowing city residents without U.S. citizenship to vote:
- Yes: 4,150
- No: 7,857
- No opinion: 277
Limiting elected officials to three consecutive terms:
- Yes: 9,162
- No: 2,761
- No opinion: 453
Creating representative districts to elect some or all councilmembers:
- Yes: 5,021
- No: 6,328
- No opinion: 982
Official results will be certified and announced on Nov. 14. The inauguration ceremony for Rockville's new mayor and city council is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 20, at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.
