Rockville City Manager Finalists to Meet the Community

The meet-and-greet offers opportunity for informal conversations.

ROCKVILLE, MD - Community members have the opportunity to get to know the finalists for the City of Rockville's city manager job from 1 - 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 12 in the conservatory of Glenview Mansion at Rockville Civic Park, 603 Edmonston Drive.

The meet-and-greet will allow residents, business representatives and other stakeholders to have an informal conversation with finalists and provide feedback on their impressions. The Mayor and Council will attend. Light refreshments will be served.

The Novak Consulting Group is conducting a national search for Rockville's next city manager. In developing a candidate profile, the consulting group held two public meetings with community members in July to identify priority issues for the community and leadership and management traits the city manager should possess.

The City of Rockville operates under a council-management form of government. The city manager is responsible to the Mayor and the Council for the day-to-day management of city operations. Under provisions of the city charter and code, the city manager prepares a budget for the Mayor and Council's approval; recruits, hires, and supervises staff; serves as the Mayor and Council's chief administrative officer; implements Mayor and Council policies; and provides professional recommendations.

Directors report to the city manager from the following city departments: Community Planning and Development Services, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Police, Public Works and Recreation and Parks.

Craig L. Simoneau was appointed Rockville's acting city manager in February. He succeeded Barbara B. Matthews, who became city manager in October 2012.
