Rockville College Students Earn Academic Honors At Their Schools

ROCKVILLE, MD — To shine a light on the accomplished of college students from Rockville, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

The following students were among the 870 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa in Iowa City to be named to the president's list for the 2022 fall semester:

• Daniel Cummins of Rockville, who is a fourth-year student majoring in English and creative writing
• Anna Smith of Rockville, who is a third-year student majoring in English and creative writing

President's list status was earned by only two first-year undergraduates during the 2022 fall semester at Iowa; only 133 second-year students; only 270 third-year students; and only 405 fourth-year students.

Emily Parr, a mathematics major from Rockville, was named to the president's list at West Virginia University. The president's list recognizes WVU students with a 4.0 GPA.

Michel Fantom of Rockville was one of the 1,026 students to named to the fall 2022 dean's list at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. To qualify for the dean's list, students enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs must complete at least 12 semester hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The following students earned dean's list honors in fall 2022 at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland:

• Jude Fangmeyer of Rockville
• Cormac Giblin of Rockville
• Rachel Hoerner of Rockville
• Matthew McTighe of Rockville
• William Onofre of Rockville
• Donnelly Sanchez Diaz of Rockville
• Mary Trazona of Rockville

The following students earned president's list honors in fall 2022 at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland:

• Kristal Chicas of Rockville
• Rachel Warren of Rockville

Emma Burns of Rockville was among the students named to the dean's honors list for Fall 2022 at Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Undergraduate students who carry three or more completed/graded (letter grade) course units in a fall or spring term and attain a GPA for the term of 3.50 or higher are placed on the dean's honor list.

The following students were named to the fall 2022 president's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire:

• Elijah Degelia of Rockville
• Gamelia Milton of Rockville
• Lenka Pina of Rockville.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the president's list at SNHU.

More than 1400 students were named to the fall 2022 dean's list at York College of Pennsylvania. To be eligible for this honor, a student must be registered for at least 12 academic credit hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher. Dean's list honorees included:

• Matthew Sabatini of Rockville, a class of 2025 supply chain operations management major
• Samuel Young of Rockville, a class of 2026 civil engineering major

Rockville's Ella Pickell, a Hofstra University student studying chemistry, presented a research project at Undergraduate Research Day, on Dec. 12, 2022. Pickell's project was titled: Evaluation of successive DNA extractions from different types of swabs. Nearly 70 unique projects across a wide range of disciplines were on display at this bi-annual event. Pickell also was named to Hofstra's dean's list for the fall 2022 semester by achieving a GPA of at least 3.5.

Sebastian Sylvester from Rockville, a ASL/English interpreting BS major, was one of the more than 1,870 students who were named to the fall 2022 dean's list at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg in Bloomsbury, Pennsylvania. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (based on 4.0) during the semester to be included on the dean's list at CUB.

Kevin Jordan of Rockville was named to the fall 2022 president's list at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Benjamin Mulford of Rockville was named to the fall 2022 dean's list at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Students with a term GPA of 3.50 or higher were recognized for this academic achievement.

Julie R. Kilmer, criminal justice major from Rockville, was among more than 1,600 students named to dean's list for the 2022 fall semester at The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The dean's list recognizes students who earned a grade point average of 3.5.

The following students were named to the fall 2022 semester dean's list at the University of Vermont in Burlington:

• Ari Menezes from Rockville is majoring in economics and computer science.
• Michael Carvajal from Rockville is majoring in business administration.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.
