Rockville Man Dies in Skiing Crash in Western MD

The Garrett County Sheriff's Office said James Jung-Jin Park hit a tree, WHAG-TV reported.

A Rockville man died Saturday morning after he lost control and skied into a tree at Wisp Resort in McHenry, The Washington Post reported

The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office said James Jung-Jin Park was skiing with two friends at the Garrett County resort when he was killed, WHAG-TV in Hagerstown reported.

Michael Kim, a friend and business associate of Park’s, told The Post the 40-year-old Park was on a family ski trip with his wife and two children when he died.

Park had been wearing a helmet, Kim told The Post.

Kim said Park emigrated from South Korea when Park was a boy, settling in Northern Virginia, The Post reported.

Park attended the University of Virginia on a ROTC scholarship before serving in the Army, Kim told The Post.
