Rockville Ranks High On 'Best Place To Live In Maryland' List
Data site Niche.com ranked Rockville high on 2018's best place to live in Maryland list, based on schools, crime rate, diversity and more.

ROCKVILLE, MD — What's the best place to live in Maryland? That depends on who you ask. According to a new set of rankings released by the neighborhood data site Niche.com, Rockville placed high on the "Best Places to Live in Maryland" 2018 list.
Rockville came in at No. 8 out of 251 communities.
Niche.com took several factors into consideration to arrive at the rankings, such as: the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, diversity, nightlife, walkability, weather, employment statistics and access to amenities.

Researchers gave Rockville: A+ in public schools; A+ in good for families; A+ in diversity; B+ in nightlife and B- in housing. The population is 65,171 and the estimated median home value is $499,400.
A current Rockville resident said: "Rockville is a wonderful town to live in whether you are single or have a family. Community events and block parties during the summer months are a great way to meet other rockville residents. Rockville thrives on diversity, safety and offers excellent public schools. Rockville town square is located a few blocks from the metro/train station which connects to Washington D.C. Its proximity to D.C makes it convenient for those who live in Rockville but commute via public transportation. Overall, Rockville is a great blend of the city and suburbs!"

The suburbs in Montgomery County dominated the rankings. According to Niche.com, these are the best places to live in Maryland:
- North Bethesda
- Garrett Park
- North Potomac
- Bethesda
- South Kensington
- Kensington
- Ellicott City
- Rockville
- Urbana
- Columbia

Rockville was recently ranked as the best place to live in Maryland by Money magazine.
"One of Maryland's oldest towns is also one of the state's largest—and with low unemployment and an ultralow crime rate, it continues to attract newcomers," the report reads.
