Armed Student Robs Classmate Near Richard Montgomery High
A Richard Montgomery student was arrested for robbing a classmate near the school, and some are wondering why the school didn't report it.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A Richard Montgomery High School student has been arrested for an armed robbery of a classmate on a bike path near the school, ABC7 reports.
Malachi Lansdowne, 16, and two unknown accomplices in ski masks approached the victim on the bike path at Fleet Street and Mt. Vernon Place. Two of the suspects were armed with handguns.
Lansdowne allegedly pointed his gun at the victim and demanded the victim's $800 iPhone 7, $200 Nike Air Jordan sneakers and $400 Fendi belt.

The robbery occurred on Feb. 21, but school officials did not issue a public alert, ABC7 points out.

A Montgomery County Public Schools spokesman told ABC7 that the school didn't publicize the incident because it was off school property and after school.
Bethesda Magazine reports Richard Montgomery Principal Damon Monteleone said the ABC7 report was an "inflammatory online story."
ABC7 asked a freshman Richard Montgomery student about the incident.
"Even though it was after school, and even though it wasn't technically on school property, it was still right next to my school," Xochi Atienza said. "That's definitely something I would want to know about."
