Stunning Weather This Week: Montgomery County Extended Forecast

It may have been a wet and dreary weekend, but you'll be rewarded with a stellar week of weather.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Montgomery County got absolutely dumped on this weekend with a near-stationary low pressure system dropping multiple inches on us, creating flooding problems across the region due to the already soaked ground. But take heart, because the upcoming week is looking to be pretty awesome in our area.

Heavy rain and localized flooding was the story for the region this weekend. Greenbelt, for example, has reported more than four inches of rain as of Sunday evening. But it looks like the rains have moved on, and aside from a thunderstorm threat early this week, we may get one more week of spring-like weather before summer officially settles in.

That's right, the Weather Channel is predicting highs in the 70s, low humidity, and pretty much no chance of rain for most of the week.

On Monday, there will be some lingering humidity from the weekend but highs will only get up to 79 degrees. In other words, it's going to be beautiful.

"The cold front that moves through tonight will act as a giant broom, pushing out the dreary and wet pattern we've been stuck with over the past several days," reads a Sunday evening forecast from the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang. "Monday will feel like a near-perfect weather day (I like to think this is because it's my birthday), with mostly sunny skies developing by the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s, and dew points will be dropping throughout the day under a dry northwest wind at 5 to 10 mph. Mostly clear and quite comfortable tomorrow night, with lows in the upper 50s."

That will be the story on Tuesday as well, although there is the possibility of PM thunderstorms and a precipitation chance of 50 percent.

After that, the weather gets even better. The Weather Channel current projects a high of 70 degrees with partly cloudy skies, a zero percent chance of precipitation, and humidity at just 54 percent. Thursday will be just about as beautiful, with a high of 75.

Things will warm up on Friday, jumping up to the mid 80s, and humidity will move up in the 60 percent range. And Saturday and Sunday may be fairly muggy, but highs will stay in the low 80s.

So if you're looking to get out of the house and enjoy some outdoor activities, this may be the week to do it.
