And now, the “fresh from the barber shop or fly from the beauty salon” edition of the “The Rundown”:

  • Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio and Councilwoman Bridget Donnell Newton talk city issues—live at 6:30 this evening on Rockville 11’s newest public affairs roundtable “ The show hosts two members of the City Council each Friday.
  • Tonight is the opening night for Unexpected Stage’s production of “Candy and Dorothy” at in Rockville Town Square. We’ll leave it to the Unexpected Stage website to explain this one: “In this comic fantasy set on New York’s lower East Side, transexual superstar Candy Darling and founder of the Catholic Worker movement Dorothy Day meet in the afterlife and must work together to save a down-on-her-luck, drug-selling librarian. Before they can chance to save a living person however, they must first save themselves.”

  • The 26th  in and around Rockville Town Center. The evening promises fun for runners—and road closures for drivers. Check the course map and keep your eyes open for signs announcing closure times.
    If you’re not registered yet, you might have one chance left (space permitting): after 4 p.m. tomorrow at the race site for $45.
  • If you prefer spoiling a good walk to running, hosts the 41st Annual Rockville Open and City Championship on July 22-23. The registration deadline is Tuesday.
  • And if you prefer you seeing the world without your hands gripping a club or your feet touching the ground, the will depart from at 10 a.m. on July 23. Bicyclists will pedal 11 miles around the city, visiting five community gardens as part of the ride in memory of the community activist, who died one year ago this month. Free registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
